MY BACKGROUND
I began dancing at a late age and pushed myself quite hard and as a result injured myself more times than I can
remember. It seems I was always trying to figure out what I was doing wrong .
In NEW YORK CITY at the FINIS JHUNG DANCE STUDIO I discovered a teacher who would influence me greatly .
His name was ERIC BEELER. His class was called AMERICAN YOGA and he was a man who was really ahead
of his time . Another teacher of Floor work who had an influence on me was MATT TURNEY who also taught at
FINIS'S and worked with ERIC. She had been a dancer with the MARTHA GRAHAM COMPANY.
One day ERIC became ill and asked me to teach his class. I was petrified! I told people who were arriving for
class to go home. Luckily enough of them stayed and I began my career as a teacher.
I had never really liked the performing process...What it took to get on stage ,the rehearsals auditions, Etc. Being
a naturally nervous person I suffered a lot from stage fright. I was OK once I got on stage but I was a bit of a wreck
beforehand. In teaching I felt at home.
A person who put me at ease was choreographer Kate Thomas and her company B Muse. I performed and acted
as rehearsal director.
I danced with lots of obscure modern companies and absorbed as much as I could.
I lived in NYC for 20 years. I taught at FINIS JHUNG, STEPS, ALVIN AILEY, MORELI BALLET and independently
through private studios. I had my own PERSONAL TRAINING business in NYC and have also worked as a
massage therapist . I have studied anatomy and Kinesiology with IRENE DOWD. I studied PILATES with
ROBERT FITZGERALD .(If you want, I'll send you my CV!!)
While visiting Stockholm one summer I stumbled upon BALETTAKADEMIEN. I started guest teaching in the
summer courses and then received an invitation to join the Faculty,it's hard to believe that I have lived here for 8
years.
In December of 2003 I became a certified YAMUNA BODY ROLLING® instructor.I am the only one in
SCANDINAVIA who is doing this wonderful work of self empowerment. You have to try it! Especially the
Footsavers!
In 2005 I began warming-up the Swedish cast of Mama Mia. I really enjoy this trip to the theatre; fantastic,
talented, and really nice people.
