You might have heard something about rolling on balls. No it is not the big Swiss balls that are everywhere and are used for core stability training.
This method uses several different size balls the main ball used is around 20 cm. and the smallest is around 8cm
If I gave you one of these balls and told you to give yourself a massage you would probably roll all over the place. Which is OK. But not that effective,and you run the risk of injuring yourself or creating more problems.Many people with muscle knots have used tennis balls.(Which are way to hard)
